Hello,
Don't know if this is the correct place for this, but Stockholm Metro trains actually run on the left track... The Metro Features list says they run on the right. _________________ Olof Lagerkvist |

Absolutely the right place! From what I remember you are right, I don't know why the list said left. I've changed it. I wonder why Stockholm's metro doesn't run on the right like most European metros. |

Like most oddities in the world it is there because of historical reasons...
Stockholm Metro was originally tram routes extended into tunnels through the city centre. At the time the system was converted to a metro system the trams ran on the left track because road traffic in Sweden at that time ran on the left side of the road (Sweden changed to driving on the right in 1967). Stockholm Metro with all extensions built after that and mainline railways kept running trains on the left track.
However the tramways in the country, of which few survived, of course changed to running on the right to be able to run mixed with street traffic. That lead to some interesting oddities like this in western Stockholm:

At about 4.20 in this movie the tram enters a section of track that is not a "tramway" and changes from running on the right track to the left on a permanent cross-over. _________________ Olof Lagerkvist |
